Nothing beat the freshness of an iced coffee during a hot day. Some people may swap their favorite hot Joe with the iced variant (combined with the tasty syrup) during some of the hottest days or months.

However, if you are bored with the regular iced coffee, why not having the iced coffee soda? Basically, you mix an orange peel and sparkling water soda. Can you make one at home? Sure do! Having your own recipe will certainly make your day and you will never mind the hot days anymore.

Starting with the Cold Brew

The most important base for the tasty iced coffee soda is the cold brew . If you do it wrong, then your coffee will be ruined. Make sure you have seen our article about cold brew here. You only need to prepare these things:

  • Filtered water (5 cups)
  • Coffee (6 oz)
  • Paper coffee filter
  • A big glass container
  • Funnel
  • Filter holder

First, grind your coffee beans. Make sure that it is coarse. Pour the grounds to a glass container and then add the water. Put the lid and shake it a bit. Let it sit for 12 hours, minimum. The best time for making the cold brew is between 12 hours to 24 hours. Less than 12 hours won’t give the coffee enough taste or flavor, but longer than 24 hours will make it bitter too. Make sure that the cold brew happens in between 12 and 24 hours.

Once the cold brew is having enough time to produce the right flavor, you can filter it out. Make sure that you use the right filter that will separate the coffee and the grounds. If you want to, you can also make several glasses from your brew. These glasses should be enough if you want to make other coffee variants – mixing it with ice creams, using it for baking cakes, etc.

Making the Iced Coffee Soda

Once your cold brew is done, you only need to mix it up to create the refreshing iced coffee soda. Pour around half a cup of the cold coffee brew to a glass. Then add the sparkling water – around a quarter of cup. There are so many brands of sparkling water out there so you can use any of your favorite. Peel a long orange zest piece by using the veggie peeler.

Don’t forget that you are going to add the peel to the mix of soda. Before dropping the peel to the mix, squeeze it in your drink. Then rub the rim with it and you can drop it to the drink. Don’t forget to add some ice cubes to make a super cold drink. There you have it; your own variants of iced coffee soda.
